In GP Funen we won our 100th race! Gus Bailey sent our fans into raptures in the home of OCM, Denmark. It was a great end of a season that started well, was our best so far pointswise and made us fill the palmares with two more prizes. 4658 points was better than the target (4300) we aimed beforehand and for the first time we were consistently top5 in the ranking. Our setup consisted a cobbleteam, sprintteam and climbteam (oof, very much a copy of how Alpine looked the past couple of seasons).
The last time our sprinters won something significant has been in S62, an unsurpassed drought for the team that should be harvesting these days. Pierrot de Baets (3rd) wasn't real competition for Bernard Wakit in Norwich-London, Vuelta was another disaster for Sima Ervin (4th) with all sorts of problems in the technical first stage and Reynardo Ceballos (3rd) failed to record a third Copa-win. For season 66 hopes are on Gus Bailey, Rajnay Bela and Sima Ervin to finally land a big fish again.
Cobbling went so much better than expected. Abraham Vilmos is pretty consistent and was even close to winning Roubaix, were it not for a breakaway that stayed in front of him. Any further activity in scouting or hiring should be aimed now at finding an even better cobblecaptain. We are pretty convinced we can offer a solid team in support.
Like last season, the climbing team gave the season its spark Zurich-Bern-Zurich (Stephan Osberg) and Taiwan BB Tour YC (Kent de Meulder) were won. Deuring rode a solid Patryk D Cup (4th) and Germany tour (3rd), but especially in the GT he would have liked to do better. The big bummer for Koenraaad was Provence, where he was clearly the strongest, but ended 2nd... behind a breakaway-rider! Stephan Osberg (9th) couldn't impress in Alpe, as we now know already that would be very different in S66 :).
For S66 we aim to win a minimum of two big races/classifications and to obtain 5200 points. There will be some chaos from six transfers going through, but we hope nonetheless we will be able to keep the pointsflow steady. With Sunde, Wakit and Pusztai coming in we bring some monsters with monstrous experience under their belt in the squad.
